About

Jason Eklund is a native of Tucson, Arizona and began his professional career at the age of 18 as extra horn for Tucson Symphony Orchestra. In 1998, he graduated summa cum laude from University of New Mexico and in 2000, earned a Master of Music in Performance from Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. His primary teachers were Jacqueline Sellers, Stanislav Suchanek, David Wakefield, Patrick Hughes, and Gregory Hustis.

Jason performs actively around the country with various orchestras including Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. He has performed as soloist with Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Catalina Chamber Orchestra, and Kennesaw State University Wind Ensemble. He has participated in Aspen Summer Music Festival, Interlochen Arts Camp, Keystone Brass Institute, Kent Blossom Music Festival, and Sarasota Music Festival.

Currently, Jason serves on faculty at Emory University as Instructor of Music Theory and Artist Affiliate of horn. He is principal horn of Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, second horn of Atlanta Opera Orchestra, principal horn of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and second horn of Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
