Minor in Music - No audition required

A student must complete the required courses listed below to fulfill a music minor. Additionally, the following apply:

  1. Students may count no more than four credit hours of Supervised Reading or Study Abroad courses toward fulfillment of the music minor.

  2. Students may not count an Internship toward fulfillment of the music minor.

  3. AP credit cannot be used toward the music minor.

Requirements

  • 20 hours of course work

Courses may be chosen from any of the Music Department's course offerings. Students may focus a minor within a specific area, or they may take a broad selection of courses totaling 20 hours.

  • At least 12 hours must be at the 200 level or higher.

  • Up to 4 hours of Applied Music (MUS 310 for non-majors) or Ensemble (MUS 300) will be accepted toward the minor. Students wishing to enroll in MUS 310 will be required to audition. See our Audition Information web page for details. MUS 320 will not count toward the minor in music.

  • No course for the music minor may be taken S/U.
