Biography

Amy Trotz began her professional training at the Eastman School of Music’s Preparatory Department in her hometown of Rochester, New York. She earned her bachelor degrees in both French horn and English at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music degree from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Her teachers have included Milan Yancich, Robert Fries, Julie Landsman and Joe Anderer.

Amy held the position of 2nd horn with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra for twelve years, and after moving to Atlanta, she joined the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. Her most recent freelance work includes performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Opera Orchestra. She has also played with the Jacksonville Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera. 

Amy has been an Artist Affiliate at Emory University since 2006, and previously held positions as a faculty member at Georgia Southern University and the Eastern Music Festival.
