Biography

Jeffrey Brooks is a clarinet artist affiliate at Emory University. Before moving to Atlanta in 2014 he served as sabbatical replacement for clarinet professors at Florida State University and Ohio University. He also held positions as adjunct clarinet instructor at Central Washington University and Walla Walla University. Jeff has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States such as the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Atlanta Symphony, and Charleston Symphony and recently developed "Monsters of Clarinet", a classical and jazz crossover pops program for jazz quartet and symphony orchestra.

Mr. Brooks has been heard as a concerto soloist on nearly twenty occasions and has presented more than forty solo recitals covering a wide variety of clarinet repertoire. He was the Principal Clarinetist of the Yakima Symphony for twelve seasons, performed as guest Principal Clarinetist with the Seattle Symphony with Marvin Hamlisch conducting, and performed in Carnegie Hall, Boston's Jordan Hall, and the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. He has recorded for the Naxos and New World Record labels, independently released two jazz CD's available on itunes.com, and recorded multiple Hollywood film soundtracks and video games.

Jeff is soon to complete his doctorate of music at Florida State University and holds a BA from Central Washington University and a MM from Florida State University. His teachers have included Dr. Frank Kowlasky, Dr. Deborah Bish, Eddie Daniels, Laura DeLuca, Chip Phillips, and Joseph Brooks.

Jeff owns and operates “Brooks Clarinet Service” a clarinet repair and sales business that specializes in new and used Buffet Clarinets.
