Music and audio research at Emory

The center supports undergraduate, graduate and faculty research and study in music composition, audio-video design and analysis, interactive performance and digital new media. Interdisciplinary creative explorations are encouraged and facilitated as well. Seminars and guest lectures providing critical inquiry into aspects of contemporary creative production and aesthetics are also supported.

Studio A provides a laboratory for group study and interdisciplinary research.

• Studios B & C are available for individual projects.

Synthesis, composition and analysis programs include:

MaxMSP, Jitter, Supercollider, Kyma, Chuck, IRCAM programs (Open Music, Modalys, Spatialisateur, jMax, Audiosculpt, Diphone, SuperVP), Protools, Peak, Reaktor, Reason, MachFive, Structure, GRM Tools, Final Cut Pro, and Digital Performer.

Eight-channel surround sound and a 72-channel Mackie d8b digital mixer are available for sound diffusion research in Studio A. All studios are equipped with Macintosh computers and Digidesign digital I/O.
